L&P SUPPORTS YOUTH PLEDGE

Attleborough based office and contract furniture manufacturer, Lee & Plumpton is supporting Norfolk and Suffolk County Councils’ joint initiative, ‘Youth Pledge’.

Youth Pledge for Employers, which started in June this year and runs until 31 December 2023, is designed to help local businesses develop opportunities for young people aged 16 to 24. The Youth Pledge gives Norfolk and Suffolk businesses the opportunity to both support young people and develop their own teams.

“We are delighted to support the Youth Pledge initiative,” says Kate Philpin, HR Executive at Lee & Plumpton. “Over the past few weeks, we have recruited a number of young people in a variety of roles including in the machine room, assembly area, and warehousing.”

“As a business, we are committed to diversity and inclusion and recognise our responsibility to provide appropriate working environments to support people of all ages, gender, background, and needs.”

Lee & Plumpton is already supporting ICanBeA …., an online platform that profiles organisations that offer local careers and training opportunities. The portal is operated by The Mason Trust, a charitable trust aiming to enable young people in Norfolk and Suffolk to realise their aspirations and take control of their futures.

“As part of the Youth Pledge, we aim to highlight to young people the wide range of skills and careers available within the furniture industry. Opportunities range from engineering, manufacturing, and design skills through to administration, IT, marketing, and sales,” continues Kate Philpin.

Established in 1974, Lee & Plumpton is one of the UK’s leading designers and manufacturers of contemporary, stylish office and contract furniture. Based at its 200,000 square foot purpose-built manufacturing facility in Bunns Bank, Attleborough, the Company has extensive in-house capabilities including product design, research and development, custom design, and its own transport fleet.
